The Andean Bear (*Tremarctos ornatus*), also known as the Spectacled Bear, is the only bear species native to South America. Despite its wide distribution along the Andes, it remains one of the continent's most elusive large mammals. This ongoing photographic project was developed in the high-altitude páramo of Cayambe-Coca National Park, Ecuador. Working in remote and often challenging conditions, the aim is to document the species in its natural habitat while highlighting the unique landscapes it depends upon. Rather than focusing solely on close portraits, these images place the bears within their environment, emphasizing the relationship between wildlife, weather, and the Andean ecosystem. All photographs presented here are available as fine art prints and for licensing. For inquiries, collaborations, or publication requests, please get in touch.
